Renovation of a 120sqm apartment in the historic center of Monte di Procida.
In the centre of Monte di Procida, in the oldest part of the small town of Flegreo, this house, which can only be reached on foot through a long staircase, as it used to be, as on the islands, the house is the arrival point of a walk among the houses embedded in the ancient urban fabric.
The oldest part of the building dates back to the beginning of '800.
The entrance is dominated by a large arched window that gives the room a great luminosity. The cleaning of the entrance space conceals a remarkable functionality, in fact, made in custom-made oak wood with open pore white lacquered, we find on one side a large shoe rack that hides in turn all the electric square and, on the other, a cupboard empty pockets, as well as a bookcase made up of shelves inserted between the masonry walls.
Once you enter the entrance you must cross the central hallway that is accompanied by a wallpaper coating applied also to the doors flush wall of a bathroom and a room. The curtain effect wallpaper succeeds through a slight illusion to make the passage area corridor a quality space.
The hallway connects the entrance with the living area on one side and the master bedroom area on the other. The latter is located at a slightly higher level and can be reached via 3 steps. Once the original and restored vaulting dominates the bed space that is divided by the large exclusive walk-in closet and fully equipped with shelves made to measure of taupe lacquered open pore color, while at the bottom the drawers are factory and white.
The living area opens to the other side of the hallway. A large open space kitchen, dining and living room that find a different hierarchy of spaces thanks to the double height living side and half height kitchen/ dining. The wooden loft that surmounts the kitchen accommodates a practical study area accessible through a wooden staircase completely made to measure and supported by stainless steel cables that also become protective railing up to the loft. The composition of the wooden staircase also allows the accommodation of the TV area and some steps become bookshelves. A particularly complex knot that nevertheless finds a very simple and aesthetically very elegant solution.
The kitchen with the large decking embraces the dining area and culminates in a peninsula breakfast area.
All floor coverings are in porcelain stoneware, and have also been applied to the wall. The light decorative walls are made with white three-dimensional decorations of Porcellanosa.
The synergy with the clients has made it possible to create a very contemporary and functional apartment, albeit within a building with several historical and constructive overlaps.
A result in our opinion surprising that once again rewards the work in concert with the client who especially on difficult occasions like these must believe much in the project and the study that realizes it!
