The project for Casa RM involved the refurbishment of an Arabian-style villa with a private beach inside the One & Only Hotel in Dubai, UAE. The main objective of the project was to maintain the atmospheres of the existing building and providing the interior spaces with a luxurious, high-end design.
Light, contemporary and geometric lines coexist in the project with the iconic shapes of traditional Arabian architecture and the traditional layout of private residential buildings. The villa represents a peaceful oasis of tranquillity enriched by prestigious and never obvious materials.
The shiny brass lattice-work of the main living room reflects the sunset sunrays while the white Carrara marble mirrors the blue waters of the Persian Gulf. The cotton upholstery and the bright linen curtains coexist with the walnut brushed woods and the Italian hand-polished microcement nuvolato surfaces.
The white curvilinear staircase is placed in front of a green wall with tropical vegetation becoming a sort of small interior landscape that invites to ascend to the upper floors.
The design is all about the research of a balance between new and old, tradition and innovation, geometry and organicity.
