The Castle of Santa Cruz Visitor Center has been articulated in two parts connected between them:
1º- A pre-existing construction resolved with a solid and massive masonry work that will be a space for spreading and expositions. This building will be used as well as a testimony of the recent residential past of the ensemble.
2º- Three small new pavilions that –according to the military past of the fortress and the usual disposition of military pavilions- are designed as light but resistant elements with a “dry” construction.
The structure and outside steel paneling will add the basic finishing touch. These small pavilions will be used as a previous reception space, bar-terrace and toilets. Between the pre-existing building and the small pavilions there is a big threshold or covered area with capacity for groups of people and the needed space of relationships and reception, with shadows in the summer and protection from the climate in winter time.
