In the 6th edition 2023 of Marbella Design, the CATHARSIS project was presented, under the patronage of the ASCALE firm which won the 1st prize for technological innovation.
The ASCALE porcelain in white and black tones is the absolute protagonist of this space. It doesn't limit itself to dressing up, its function goes further to creating architecture and transforming it into spatial elements, it has to be converted into essential structures.
A space/scenography inspired by the dramatic theatre, theorized by Hans-Thies Lehmann in 1999, CATHARSIS manifests a timeless paradox, frozen in a static architecture that only through “the theatrical action” (the experience) can be unfrozen and if placed here and now.
The breaking of the heart is the key: there are those who live the sound and visual experience and those who witness it, we are the public who receive and actuate the catharsis, and we are actors who observe and give life to the scenario.
The architecture of the space, through experience, takes its connotations of reality and is thus transformed in the place of the illusions.
CONCEPT OF EXPERIENCE
A 65" vertical panel projects the video art in a loop, a 5-minute deeply hipnotic video created for the space; on the side there are 3 tablets with three headphones attached to the wall; you can select a single list: "Cathrsis", also carefully created , with a great selection of melodic techno and some dark/punk joys. Each visitor can listen to the song they want or swap the headphones.
Catharsis is generated through the synchronization that automatically occurs in the brain between sound and video: when the music changes, the video always seems to synchronize.
The explosion of lights across the home automation system accompanies this sensation.
