Céu Bar Becomes Curitiba’s New Hotspot for Views, Music, and High-End Cocktails

Located in the Batel neighborhood of Curitiba, Céu Bar emerges as the city’s latest must-visit destination. The architecture is by João Gabriel Küster Cordeiro and Arthur Felipe Brizola, of Küster Brizola Arquitetos, while the concept was developed by partners Victor Hugo Pugsley, Renata Guglielme, Marco Zuravski, and Paulo Borges — all musicians and experienced entertainment professionals. The collaboration between architects and founders resulted in a space that captures the essence of Curitiba’s nightlife with originality and personality.

The group also manages Czar Bar, a traditional Curitiba venue approaching 20 years in operation, eight of them under their leadership. The idea for Céu Bar arose from a perceived gap in the local scene, coupled with inspiration from bars and cultural spaces in other cities. Finding a suitable property took two years, followed by 13 months of construction, culminating in the bar’s opening in 2025.

The project is a renovation of a 1950s building that preserves its original façade and urban presence while revealing a modern and surprising interior. The architectural intervention sought to honor the building’s history while introducing contemporary elements, creating a versatile and multifaceted space for Curitiba’s nightlife. The bar’s concept was inspired by the connection to the sky and sunset, seamlessly integrating indoor and outdoor spaces and bringing the energy of day and night inside. The partners aimed to break away from traditional enclosed bar models, prioritizing long sightlines, geometric windows, and maximizing the horizon views.

On the ground floor, a spacious outdoor area blends nature and social interaction, serving as a gathering point with a showcase-style bar. Red metal stairs and a walkway connect the floors, standing out as striking visual elements. On the rooftop, visitors are greeted with panoramic city views — the stage for Céu Bar’s vibrant nights, featuring theatrical lighting and contemporary architecture. The walkway linking the rooftop to the original building invites exploration of the loft, a cozy space preserving the building’s memory, while a large stained glass window visually connects indoor and outdoor environments.

Inside, original ceramic tiles and exposed brick bring a nostalgic touch, while comfortable armchairs, sofas, and indirect lighting create an intimate atmosphere. The central stainless steel bar adds a modern counterpoint. Ground-floor walls were removed to create a spacious listening bar, clad in wood and designed with acoustics tailored for music. A dark red tiled bar counter reinforces the welcoming and dynamic ambiance, inviting visitors to explore the vinyl selection while enjoying signature cocktails.

Several original elements were creatively repurposed: marble bathroom walls became coffee tables, Imbuia cabinets turned into storage doors, structural stones became garden benches, and the DJ table was built from the original roof wood. This approach ensures an organic and authentic aesthetic, honoring the building’s history and supporting sustainable practices.

The project prioritizes comfort and experience in every detail: air-conditioned bathrooms, wide corridors and stairways, a sound system with specialized acoustic treatment, and a highly trained hospitality team. Signature cocktails, crafted by Gabriel Bueno, a World Class finalist, feature clarification techniques, infusions, smoke, and artisanal ingredient production onsite, without industrial syrups, ensuring quality, consistency, and accessible pricing. With five bar stations across different areas, the venue offers diverse experiences — from dance floors to quiet spaces with city views — creating a versatile and democratic internal dynamic.
