Chong Qing Manhattan's more than 14,000m² area sits on a mountainous plain filled with sub-tropical vegetation – factors which highly influenced the final site planning and building design.
The design concept was to facilitate urban living while also maintaining strong bonds with the abundant natural ecosystem surrounding the development. Large water bodies prevail throughout the site, a reference to Chong Qing's nautical heritage from the Yangtze River, which practically lower ambient temperature during summer.
Block placement and fenestrations were done with careful consideration of prevailing winds in the area to promote naturally ventilated interiors. Sky gardens also provide residents with an additional burst of nature right in the luxury of their own homes.
