City Residence – Living with a Concierge The ground floor of an inner-city palace (designed by Ludwig Förster and Theophil von Hansen, 19th century) was re-modeled by Atelier Heiss. Modern shop entrances with fall-arm awnings and big showcase windows exude downtown shopping flair and elegantly harmonize with the historic facade. In the upper floors, Atelier Heiss adapted three of the apartments to high-end residences. In keeping the typical details of upperclass apartment buildings, the residences were equipped with modern, elegant accents (inserted sanitary units, built-in cabinets and custom-made individual objects). In the entry area, the concierge´s desk – an extraordinary surprise effect in a Viennese town house – sets a striking sculptural accent.
