The new interior design for the city hall of Geldrop-Mierlo caused a radical change in the experience of the public. In the old situation the area was divided in several rooms, in the new situation the area is opened up which introduced clear view lines.
An important aspect of the plan was that the fixtures should be as energy efficient as possible. This resulted in LED fixtures in the public areas and energy efficient fixtures in the offices. Where possible the lighting was integrated in the furniture, if this was not possible the size of the lighting was minimalized.
To prevent the space from becoming too clean, several decorative lamps were added in the waiting areas and to the different desks. The combination of the lighting and the interior design resulted in a pleasant area in which the public can comfortably wait to be helped.
