Clementine Children's Hospital is the only hospital in Frankfurt with eight specialized departments exclusively focused on treating children and adolescents. In 1845, the “Dr. Christ'sche Kinderhospital für arme Kinder” (Dr. Christ's Children's Hospital for Poor Children) was opened, and exactly one hundred years later, the foundation-operated facilty moved into its current building in Frankfurt's Ostend district.
Alongside providing top-tier medical services and compassionate care, the hospital emphasizes a child-friendly environment, offering overnight accomodation and dining facilities for parents. In 2005, the foundation initiated a series of renovations and extensions to meet growing demand and accomodate the social pedagogy center of the Association for Work and Educational Assistance (VAE), which had previously operated elsewhere. We expanded vertically by adding floors to the historic buildings on Hölderlinstrasse ans extended the structure with two wings spanning the entire block to Theobald-Christ-Strasse.
At the heart of the complex is a garden courtyard, equipped with play structures and seating. The interior spaces features bright, welcoming colors, with carefully selected materials fostering a soothing yet professional atmosphere for the outpatient and inpatient care of young patients.
