Clove: A bistro experience transformed into an exotic atmosphere with Brazilian Modernism.

Global trends in the hospitality sector are reshaping gastronomic experiences into atmospheres that evoke a sense of travel. Designed by GEO_ID and located in Istinye Park, Clove is developed around a bistro concept that lives both day and night.

GEO_ID’s design language with an exotic atmosphere reminiscing Brazilian Modernism, responds to the global tendency of interior’s power to reflect a sense of travel.

Brazilian Modernism, as interpreted by iconic figures like Oscar Niemeyer, Lina Bo Bardi, and José Zanine Caldas through organic forms, is reimagined at Clove with dynamic graphic flows and sensory-enhancing styles, achieved through material, color, and texture choices.

Clove's main design language is based on fluidity, bringing nature into the interior through elements such as circular forms, plants, and wallpaper. Upon entering Clove, an inviting staircase and a wall adorned with artworks greet visitors. The visibility of the staircase from the outside is a significant design choice, aiming to separate the user experience from the shopping mall. The wall color and art selection enhance three-dimensional perception at the entrance and strengthen the brand's identity as a display area.

Moving towards the dining area, a curved wall slows down users, arouses curiosity, and provides a soft welcome with a home-like feeling. Custom-designed wood, inspired by a tropical tree called 'Iroko,' is used on wall surfaces, increasing the warmth feeling of the interiors with its modern color tone. The brown tones of root coverings, applied to various details and furniture, reinforce the feeling of exoticism.

Plants, one of the main elements defining Clove's character, merge with seating groups, creating visual continuity at eye level throughout the entire space.

Clove features a graphic flow reflecting the continuity of experience and identity design. Grids created on the ceiling with wood and textiles continue with the combination of custom-designed terrazzo with brass on the floor, creating angular and circular geometries.

The floor design subtly differentiates in the terrace area without disrupting the graphic flow. Glass joinery blurs the separation between interior and exterior spaces through curtains and furniture, incorporating the terrace area into the main space.

GEO_ID designed a three-dimensional surface with mirrors, wood, and smoked glass-covered wallpaper behind the dining area. This surface adds depth to the dining area, providing the feeling of being in a tropical forest as the user walks. Elements reminiscent of nature are enhanced with reflected surfaces, transforming the dining experience through a biophilic approach.

The bar area is in the center of the space and accessible from every point. The bar emphasizes Clove's identity with its visual appeal. The green marble, mirror, and root covering used in the background of the bar create a grid pattern. The black stainless steel material placed under the brass and root-covered bar counter acts like a mirror, reflecting people's movements around the bar. The forest tones given by green marble and root covering enhance the tropical feel, while reflections arouse the senses and transform the user experience in the bar area.

The layered design language is reflected in furniture with different material and texture combinations. Leather, linen, and velvet textiles differentiate the experiences in the seating units.

Artworks placed in different locations will be changed periodically. The first story created by the artworks is titled 'Istanbulites and The Drama.' Clove specializes in creating an exhibition space as well as a gastronomic experience, responding to the global trend of “restaurants going beyond gastronomy and transforming into creatively developed concepts around different themes."
