CMNTY Culture has asked us to create an equitable center for community creativity in Los Angeles. The client’s ambitions are also ours as we aim to provide purpose in our work and take an individual stake in that goal.
The HKS team also hopes to achieve the creation of the unexpected encouraging social improvisation, the unplanned jam. Some of the project’s challenges include: creating an economically viable high density project in a very urban neighborhood/district, the scale and difficult site geometry - a true infill project, and maintaining privacy of high profile recording artists. The main client challenge is successfully bridging between art and commerce without selling out.
