The restored 1920s house is the result of an archaeological work on modern ruins that seeks to understand their layers in time in order to activate them in the historical context of downtown Mérida, specifically in the neighborhood of García Ginerés. 

The space manifests itself with a subtle and profound activation through Edenic strategies using the garden, the void, and contemporary stillness. 

A precise intervention with optical conviction of experience is achieved through a garden, and is activated through exploratory interventions using elements such as the journey, reflection, light, and materiality with the minimum resources available to connect with the human historical longing to revalue pre-existence, understand the strength, heritage, and memory, comprehend their layers in time, and establish an intimate and essential relationship between people and the spaces that embody their context, leading us to recognize our own essence by building a public life device in the neighborhood. 

During the intervention, demolitions of the subsequent extracts and additions to the house were carried out, where the volumetric form was the result of this exercise in search of the original facades and the internal spatial configuration was intervened to generate a series of flexible and domestic mono-environments. 

The materiality proposes a monochromatic palette of terracotta color made by hand-painted lime for all the new and pre-existing walls, which strengthens the monolithic and historical idea of the house, the preservation of the existing pasta floors, and the consolidation of the additions with polished concrete floors in the same terracotta color.
