The plot on which the Covered House has been designed is located in a wooded villa area not far from a large conurbation. It is characterised by an oblong shape and a significant slope towards the road. The plot is made charming and picturesque by old trees: pines, oaks, larch, yew, tulip tree; which are overgrown with ivy.
The shape and layout of the building are the result of the integration with the existing tree system, taking into account the significant slope of the terrain and numerous guidelines from the investors.
The body of the building is sculpted, the outbuilding creates a separate body, is covered with a different material and "slides" under the rest of the house. The ground floor is undercut at the front, which makes it possible to naturally create a canopy over the entrance, while at the same time giving the whole a remarkable appearance. The house opens up towards the west, where an additional sense of being in the garden is provided by terraces on both the ground and ground floors of the building. The majority of the building is clad in black clinker tile, while the service block and alcoves are clad in quartz sinter.
Another important guideline for the design and shape of the block was to open up the 6-metre high living room with a large glass window to a beautiful old tulip tree. It could be said that this tree to some extent defined a large part of the design. The north wall of the house was largely squared off to screen out the neighbour, who should also not be visible from the terrace.
The entrance to a building plays a very important role in the designs of studio Z3Z ARCHITEKCI. The architects try to make sure that the first impression when you cross the threshold of the house is a strong one. This is also the case here, as already from the vestibule, through the wide windows in the dining room, there is a view of the garden.
The location of the kitchen and dining room allows for cooking and eating overlooking the garden, this is particularly important for this project, as this is the space where the Investors spend the most time.
The privacy of the night area from the road is provided by louvered shutters. This is the element that defines the house from the front. For the passer-by, the observer from outside, the house is closed, 'obscured', the window openings disappear when the house is closed and even the skilled eye will have difficulty finding them.
Another important aspect of this design is that it has been made of materials that are very resistant to the forest. These also blend in with the forest surroundings. The shape fits in with the existing arrangement of trees and, thanks to the large glazing, when staying in the house we have the feeling that the forest plot and the interiors are merging.
