Pitá Arquitetura has designed Desligue a Mente (DAM), a space dedicated to well-being and slowing down, conceived as an urban refuge focused on taking a pause and engaging in hands-on activities. Amid a routine defined by constant rush and an excess of stimuli, the space offers an experience away from screens: a place to be present and rediscover the pleasure of activities made by hand.
The project was developed to host a variety of craft and hands-on courses, creating an atmosphere of exchange, comfort, and relaxation. Architecture becomes a tool for decompression, with a layout designed to accommodate different activities while encouraging a more sensitive and attentive relationship with time.
Spanning 450 m² in São Paulo, the experience begins with a privileged view of the Pinheiros River. The project highlights creativity through the use of natural finishes such as stone, wood, and linen, which also resonate with the hands-on practices carried out throughout the space. The reception area is integrated into the central environment, reinforcing the idea that everyone should feel welcome and at home from the moment they arrive.
The space features dedicated rooms for different courses, equipped for activities such as ceramics, paper crafts, sewing, and cooking. There are also versatile rooms that can be adapted to multiple uses, as well as administrative areas. The result is a project with a strong identity, designed to inspire, welcome, and encourage creativity in all its forms.
Against the industrial ceiling, a rope installation stands out as a distinctive design element, directly referencing the world of craftsmanship and the aesthetic of the interiors. The furniture and décor curation brings together pieces by renowned artists alongside creations made by the students themselves, which have already been incorporated into the spaces. This coexistence creates a unique, almost poetic atmosphere, placing different forms of creative expression side by side.
More than a place for learning, Pitá Arquitetura’s project for Desligue a Mente offers a pause from the accelerated logic of everyday life. By shifting the focus away from screens and constant productivity toward gesture, material, and process, the space invites users to disconnect from excess and reconnect with themselves.
