DLINH STUDIO | A SINGLE APARTMENT

A daring decision by the independent female homeowner: she fully embraced the architect's bold proposal: Transforming a one-bedroom+ layout into a studio apartment.

The original developer layout had several limitations: no designated shoe storage, a cramped space due to excessive partitioning, and an inefficient use of the modest square footage.

The opportunity for a better living space came from the homeowner herself—single, expressive, and open-minded. Since marriage was not in her immediate plans, the design team envisioned a "merge & minimize" approach to create a more comfortable and personalized home.

Instead of two compact sleeping areas, they were merged into a spacious master bedroom.

The living room and bedroom were also merged with large slim-framed sliding glass doors replacing solid walls.

• Closed: A one-bedroom apartment with a separate living room.

• Open: A spacious, airy studio flooded with natural light.

Even the dining table and work desk were merged into a single large, asymmetrical centerpiece.

The philosophy of "minimizing to maximize" was applied throughout:

• A low shoe cabinet at the entrance doubled as a kitchen island.

• Additional storage space was added to the kitchen and wardrobes.

• Wall-mounted air conditioners were cleverly concealed within cabinets.

These improvements were achieved by removing the conventional sofa and the compact +1 sleeping area.

The transformation was so striking that the building management and technical team immediately expressed their amazement during the final inspection.

Post-renovation, both natural light and ventilation have been dramatically enhanced. The independent female owner now enjoys a dynamic and multi-functional living space that adapts to her lifestyle.
