Aedas-designed Sinar Mas Land Head Office Building was given a BCA Green Mark Gold Award by the Building and Construction Authority (BCA) of Singapore last night.
Located in the BSD Green Office Park in Jakarta, also designed by Aedas and awarded a BCA Green Mark Gold Award in 2010, this iconic, green building was recognised for its sustainable design. Most common areas within the building, including the entire atrium, lift lobbies and toilets, are naturally ventilated. Sky terraces and vertical green buffers shield the building from hot afternoon sun. Other active and passive features like sun shading devices, trellises, double Low-E glass and photovoltaic solar panels are installed to conserve energy consumption.
"Aedas is committed to deliver sustainable design solutions for the better of the world,” said Kevin Jose, Member of the Board, Aedas International. “We are truly honoured to have contributed to the sustainable development of Indonesia through the BSD master plan and Sinarmas Land Head Building."
The BCA Green Mark Scheme was launched in January 2005, intending to promote sustainability in the built environment and raise environmental awareness among developers, designers and builders.
