Downsview Presbyterian Church

The main objective of the project was converting a single storey barn shape structure which previously used as an indoor tennis court to a place of worship. The existing building was seriously deteriorated over the years and the major renovation was required both on the exterior and the interior space. The existing building was built with simple steel ‘A’ frame with concrete block wall and metal roofing. In order to create an inviting and welcoming place of worship, wood was chosen for the structure and the interior finish. The main entrance was constructed with glulam beams and glulam deck; and for the exterior surface, pre-finished wood siding was installed over the existing concrete block wall.
