DWFritz Precision Automation

In November, 2012 DWFritz Precision Automation moved their headquarters to a 70,000 SF building located in Wilsonville, Oregon. Their former office space was not design-driven and lacked a representation of their brand. Mackenzie was hired as the architectural and interior design firm to transform the industrial hard shell of their new building into 20,000 SF of creative office space and 50,000 SF of flexible manufacturing floor space. The challenge was to assist DWFritz with the development of a brand identity that was reflective of the modern, high-tech clients that they service and for that identity to transcend into their physical space in order to attract new employees as well as impress existing employees and clients. The design team worked closely with owner Mike Fritz to ensure the project met the desired vision and budget.

Mackenzie met their client’s expectations through design of an open, flexible office environment with use of innovative tactics, such as detailing the ceiling with unique fixtures, high quality finishes and precision detailing throughout the entire process. This process was broken into four phases, with the first phase of the design being a fast tracked design/build of a temporary office space for the DWFritz employees to move into located on the first floor of their new building, while construction ensued on the remainder of the building. Finite coordination of continued operations during each phase between the client, designers, contractors, and subcontractors was critical to minimize disruption to continued workplace operations. Employees experienced seamless integration into their new space, which enabled them to embrace their updated organizational workplace and culture.
