The architecture of Cantallops Vicente Arquitectes and Coma Arquitectura has been awarded 1st prize in the competition organized by INCASÒL for the design and construction of D BUILDING, the 6th of the Diagonal-Besòs Campus buildings for the UPC University in Barcelona (Barcelonatech). It is expected that the works will start at the beginning of 2024 and will be finished during the last quarter of 2026.
The new D-BUILDING of the Polytechnic University of Catalonia (UPC) is one of the most strategic assets of the new Diagonal Besós Campus and a new reference of the R&D facilities in Barcelona. It has been designed as Nearly Zero efficiency building that combines passive bioclimatic systems with high efficient HVAC facilities.
A central bioclimatic patio works as a main CORE and sews the different uses of offices and research laboratories. Also, a particular organic skin façade wraps and protects the entire volume and gives a proper urban character that deals with the general urban aspect of the Campus.
