El Picaporte

Furniture and equipment for bath store

Hernández arquitectos as Architects

Founded in 1985 and turned into referent in furniture and equipment for bath stores in Valencia, “Picaporte” open this new location with the intention of giving the maximum prominence to the product on display. In the showroom, a huge drop of blue water, which comes from an exempt bathtub splashing and crossing the glass facade, has become the representative element that demands the attention of pedestrians passing by the street. To provide all the attention to the product, the store has been "built" in two basic colours: white and gray. Grey is present in the microcement with which has been coated the floor. White is for vertical walls, ceilings and also the counter made of Corian In the complete rehabilitation, to which the local was submitted, the recovery of old roofs is highlighted. An action that provided a new and bigger high, allowing the view of the beams, which until then, had remained hidden in the false ceiling.

This recovery is reflected in the large work desk with more than 4 m in length, made of wood from the “mobila” wood beams. Above it a Corian table is displaced with invisible rails, depending on the needs of the moment. Finally, the office area is provided with light through a glazed patio busied by cypresses and an olive. It is designed in a style that maintains the continuity with the rest of the showroom, both the flooring (polished gray microcement), and the walls and furniture, all white and clean lines.
