The renovation project for Falabella in Bogotá involved upgrading the existing offices of Linio, the brand’s affiliated e-commerce platform, specifically focusing on the collaborative areas located on the 6th and 9th floors of the building where operations were already taking place.
This turnkey project, executed by Contract Workplaces, covered 640 m² distributed across various areas of both floors. A key challenge was that the renovation had to take place while employees continued working onsite, which required all construction to be carried out during nighttime hours and weekends.
On the 6th floor, the renovation included the redesign of existing meeting rooms and the removal of part of the open office area to create a modular training room, fully equipped with video conferencing and audio systems—designed and implemented by Contract Workplaces' technology division. Two new meeting rooms and informal meeting areas were also added, directly connected to the operational space. The cafeteria was expanded by an additional 9 m² and its furniture was updated to align with Falabella’s new brand image.
At the heart of this floor, a chill-out area was created for relaxation and recreation, which has become a central hub for collaborative work and informal gatherings. The space features a large bleacher seating area, open huddles, phone booths, a high bar, and a coffee point where employees can connect informally. The ambiance is enhanced with biophilic design elements, including natural plants, wood-look finishes, and synthetic monofilament grass flooring.
On the 9th floor, the existing cafeteria and part of the open office were removed to make way for a coworking space. Thanks to its mobile and versatile furnishings, the area can accommodate various functions such as training sessions, both formal and informal meetings, and after-office gatherings.
This floor includes a reception and waiting area, a reconfigurable town hall, casual meeting zones, a focus area, and a coffee point. The furniture selection includes curved sofas and armchairs in pastel tones, mobile whiteboards, and a variety of sliding tables and seating options—providing maximum flexibility. The same floor also features a reading room, a video game lounge, and a cafeteria with seating for 38 people.
The project also involved remodeling the receptions on both floors, where the design theme centered on technology. To create a futuristic ambiance, LED lighting was embedded into microcement-finished walls.
The branding of the newly renovated office was developed with a strong emphasis on local culture. As part of this approach, all meeting rooms and collaborative spaces were renamed using expressions typical of Colombian colloquial language. This sense of local identity was further reinforced through large-scale murals depicting Colombia’s native flora and fauna—found in the chill-out area, coworking zone, and cafeteria. This way, employees experience a space that not only meets functional needs but also celebrates and respects their culture, tastes, style, and traditions.
