A unique forward-looking family home of distinctive architectural merit Fallahogey House is deceivingly simple, comprising of a steel portal frame spanning 9 metres creating a large flexible space which in turn allowed the creation of a series of sub-spaces that ebb and flow into one another. As one space shifts into the next you get unexpected sight lines, creating a spatial richness. The structural steel columns remain exposed on the ground floor with a rendered plinth sliding behind on the north and east facades. At first floor level the columns are wrapped with an untreated Western Red Cedar rain screen cladding. The portal frame has no wind bracing within the walls, all bracing is within the roof structure allowing the south facade to be entirely glazed with sliding Western Red Cedar louvers guarding against excessive solar gain. the detailing of the residence is fastidiously precise but embellishment is minimal seeking a sense of connection with its rural roots
