Client Brief:
Having multiple homes, the clients were looking for a dream home in the middle of the capital since they often travel to New Delhi. They wanted to be able to come to this large city and enjoy nature. Their brief was to create a sense of volume within and beyond. They wanted generous outdoor spaces, generous balconies, and abundant greenery. To answer the brief I created multiple focal points. Something interesting within each line of sight. Huddled amongst massive trees we created focal points with sculptural art, typographic sculptures and landscaping leading to experiential moments. The interiors are a mix of multiple styles blurring to form a unique identity. As the styles blur, the space starts to scream its own character. There is a sense of softness in elements portrayed through different curves. There is a sense of ambiguity, yet power is portrayed through colour. Even though there is pattern, texture, repetition and boldness, there is a sense of calmness. 

Project Brief:
A farmhouse to serve as a vacation home nestled amongst sprawling farms in Rajokri, New Delhi. Several bold contemporary linear forms are fastened to the structure to give a sense of volume. Spread over 48000 square feet, the structure masses over 19000 square feet split into two floors. Servant quarters are an additional 1200 sq feet of built-up space nestled in the western corner of the farm. The space includes generous balconies capturing views of the greenery on all four sides. Huddled amongst massive trees it was important to create focal points and experiential moments within the design itself. This was achieved using large metal sculptures, typographic sculptures, axial water features and detailed landscaping.

Theme of the Space:
While the exterior palette is very muted, the interiors are a colour riot. The house features double volume open plan living spaces that extend to the rooms. The concept was initiated on the lines of personal expression. The interiors should feel as good as they look. The layout was designed paying attention to the needs and comforts of the inhabitants. The style is a mix of multiple styles blurring to form a unique identity. As the styles blur, the space starts to scream its own character. There is a sense of softness in elements portrayed through gentle curves. There is sense of ambiguity, yet power portrayed through colour. Even though there’s pattern, texture, repetition and boldness, there is a sense of calmness.

Walkthrough:
Spread over 2 floors, the ground floor is primarily for formal entertaining. There is a waiting lounge at the main entrance of the house overlooking the waterbody and the lavish greens. This area leads to a large open space comprising of formal entertaining, formal dining and a show kitchen. This entire space overlooks the main sprawling greens and the feature sculptures. Adjoining this space are two bedrooms. One being the guest bedroom and the other family members suite. Each room has its own identity. The family members suite has a very masculine vibe with a strong orange accent. It balances the dark mood. The bed and the artwork in the guest bedroom are on the lines of Brutalism. Very monochrome with a dash of ochre…

Moving on to the first floor. This floor is primarily a personal space accessible with 2 elevators one for family and the other for staff. This floor comprises of 2 large bedroom suites, one kid’s room, a family lounge, a pantry, and a huge storage space. 

Suite 01’s design language is formed with an array of arches in different scales from the headboard to the chandelier to the bedside lamps and going on to the wall art. This suite has a private study inspired by a softer version of Brutalism. A rounded corner triangular study desk is complimented with a triangular rug. A 12-foot bespoke library unit designed and manufactured by Sanjyt Syngh Spaces + Objects adorns one of the walls.

Femininity adorns Suite 02. There’s a love affair with shades of wine. Curvilinear forms define the lines. This suite has a gigantic walk-in closet and a beautiful dressing space which is connected to both the bed space and the toilet. 

The walls open areas are treated with interesting art, panels, and sculptures. 

The house promotes a deep sense of tranquility with a connection to nature with uninterrupted views.
