The proposal complies with the imple- mentation of the Master Plan. The Fish- ermen’s Storehouses are divided into five sets: three sets of 32x8 sqm per- pendicular to the river; alongside the river, a set of 24x2 sqm and other of 24x4 sqm. The Plan also provides an- other set perpendicular to the river, up- stream, as an area for future expansion.
Each block produces high visibility of the steel structure, looking like the boxes of wood and polycarbonate were placed as drawers. The nuanced texture of these boxes reside on the combination of two materials, wood and polycarbon- ate, which respectively express the func- tions of shelter and natural lighting.
This skin, never shows a pattern, con- trary to the formal repetition of the vol- umes. The flat roof, because of its visibil- ity, was seen as a "fifth" facade. Here we use again two materials - polycarbonate and zinc - which again relate the func- tions of shelter and natural lighting.
This choice of materials also presents the advantage use of "dry construction". The structure can be built in a workshop and assembled on site. The panels of the facades can also be done in a car- pentry workshop, getting the site ready to be assembled. The same philosophy is valid for the flat roof.
