The flower shop “Amapola” is a simple refurbishment project in which the interior space is updated. The main problem is to create a partition that functionally supports the program to be developed, as well as providing a contemporary air to the space.

In order to solve this problem, only one operation is carried out: The creation of some perforated brick walls, which function as a neutral scenographic space. This gives prominence to the product to be sold. The brick planes are arranged in such a way as to separate the work and storage area from the sales area, and in such a way as to conceal the structure that brings nothing to the space.

The perforation of the brick gives the room homogeneity and serves as a base for the furniture. Simple painted boxes that are placed on the walls like niches, bottles that are inserted into the holes of the brick on which slabs are supported to form shelves, and finally plants that are hung again thanks to the perforation of the new planes, or are placed on the floor in front of the walls.

The neutrality of the space disappears when the product is laid out. The vegetation generates different planes of colour or textures and monopolises the lower part of the space. In the end, the walls become a degradation between the natural and the artificial. Vegetable green at the bottom, ceramic red at the top. This effect is further enhanced when the local lighting is switched on, as the base of the facing has all the shadows produced by the plants, while from the perforations of the upper bricks the light of the illuminations hidden behind them emerges.

A simple and economic way of generating interest and giving character to a space that used to be anodyne.
