Folded house

In Indonesia, some developers will struggle to built house in an unusual irregular rectangular asymmetric angles site, which sold in the form of land only, client contact us and we accept the challenge to develop the house. After land shapping, we are looking for the potential spatial approach of existing space, since it becomes normative. The living area and the service is on the ground floor, while the upper floor for a bed room area and a drying area.

Because the assymetrical shape of the site, house adapt the philosophy of the paper folds that define the composition of the floor, walls, and roof are continuous and unified. The folds was separating the masses on the bottom floor so its floating, and we use Glass element as separator. The land has a potential views, located right in front of the park which is quite rare nowadays, we embrace it as visual orientation of the building. The neighborhood parks will be an extended view that seems to be part of the house's garden, to 'catch' the view of the park.We managed to make a transparent wall which facing the park, while the neighbor's house has a "normal" massive design typical from the developer. On this transparant side, there are three wooden walls in form of "fins" to avoid the radiation of afternoon sun, so it would not bursting in the open space of the garden.

We used the dark textures of concrete plastered as material of this house, and since the house has quite expressive forms, material can be mixed with the existing site. We've created the accentuative composition with exposed brick accent wall mixed with andesite exposure. In the end, the overall design of the house trying to optimize the context of the existing site. Hopefully the existence of this house can blend in with the environment that have been formed 10 years earlier.
