Anabel Soria, architect and interior designer, reinvents the design of this home to integrate the outdoor space, create open environments, and maximize natural light. Custom-designed elements blend seamlessly with the use of neutral colors and natural finishes
Architect and interior designer Anabel Soria has reimagined a vacation apartment on Avenida Europa in Benidorm, optimizing the outdoor space, creating open layouts, and maximizing Mediterranean light. Redesigned to be functional and tailored for a family of four, the project’s main challenge was fully integrating the terrace into the home’s interior design. This comprehensive renovation involved two major interventions: first, the installation of large windows with optimal insulation; and second, the addition of custom-designed folding and sliding doors made of wood and frosted glass, surrounding the newly created bedroom. These doors allow for separation or connection, as needed, between the two bedrooms and the dining area.
The new bedroom in this apartment becomes a dual-purpose space: with the doors closed, it serves as a restful sleeping area, while with the doors open, it transforms into a chill-out zone connected to the dining room. Thanks to the foldable design of these elements, both fluidity and privacy are ensured without ever compromising natural light.

The home features a parallel layout that organizes two bedrooms and a bathroom on one side, and the living-dining area and the kitchen-entryway on the other. In just 50 m², Anabel Soria ensures that all residents can comfortably enjoy the shared spaces, gather around an open-concept kitchen, increase storage capacity, and avoid the common practice of using the sofa as a nighttime bed.
Versatility, functionality, and design come together in a Mediterranean-inspired style, highlighting neutral and beige tones, large-format porcelain flooring (Newclay White by Argenta) with a microcement finish, and striking accents that add character, such as decorative wallpaper in the bathroom or the wood grain detailing in the kitchen.

A Kitchen to Enjoy and, Above All, Share
Bringing prominence, spaciousness, and brightness to the kitchen was one of the main objectives of the project. To achieve this, Anabel Soria removed unnecessary lines and spaces, creating a peninsula that also serves as a functional extension of the entryway. This structure provides a wide surface and lower cabinets at the home's entrance, offering storage for various items.
The setup features wood-laminated furniture with pronounced grain, a textured beige countertop (Dekton Nacre), and walls that maintain the microcement aesthetic. The design is complemented by neutral-toned stools with black frames and integrated appliances. This new layout is not just for cooking—it becomes a multifunctional space where family and friends can gather to dine and share moments together. Previously, such activities were challenging due to the limited layout.

A Bright and Cozy Living-Dining Room
Adjacent to the kitchen, the living-dining area extends to the large glass wall that floods the entire space with natural light. In the TV zone, featuring a Samsung Frame television, a floating wall covered in textile-effect wallpaper (Casamance) has been installed. Below, a white lacquered cabinet provides support and additional storage. The sofa area, which can convert into a bed for guests, is adorned with light, natural-toned fabrics and complemented by raffia wall decor. A wooden side table (Primark Home) blends seamlessly with the microcement-effect flooring and a large jute rug (Maisons du Monde).
The dining area features a central round table and chairs whose design echoes the stools from the kitchen, creating a visual connection between the adjoining spaces. To create a warm ambiance, the home is equipped with integrated lighting (Flos), with a single decorative pendant lamp (Flos) hanging above the dining table as a focal point. This area was previously a terrace that has now been fully integrated into the interior.
The standout feature here is undoubtedly the majestic folding doors designed by Anabel Soria. Combining wood and frosted glass, these doors allow for privacy while maintaining the flow of natural light, adapting to the space's needs and enhancing the room's character.

Two Private and Harmonious Bedrooms
The bedroom next to the window, formerly part of the outdoor terrace, showcases a unique, versatile, and functional design. The interior maximizes both storage capacity and private sleeping space. The custom-made tatami-style bed includes integrated drawers and features a backlit headboard. Placed next to the window, the bed's location allows the room to transform into a more casual chill-out area when the folding doors are open.
Neutral tones dominate the textiles, complemented by accents of red. The cushions, made from custom fabrics by La Tonelada, offer several fabric options to alternate with the seasons. The custom-made curtains (Gastón y Daniela) are blackout, providing complete light control and eliminating the need for blinds.
Connected to this bedroom through a composition of sliding wood-and-glass doors, the second bedroom embraces an "aquarium-like" style, highlighted by translucent and warm materials. This harmonious space, which also features an independent door leading to the common area, serves as a peaceful retreat with linen textiles and light colors, accented by terracotta and brick-red touches.
Equipped with two built-in wardrobes—one integrated into the back of the floating wall in the living room—this bedroom is designed with a clean aesthetic, avoiding excessive furniture. Ceiling lighting (Flos) adds to the warm and welcoming atmosphere.

A Bathroom Designed for Everyone
The bathroom has been crafted to maintain a harmonious and cohesive aesthetic with the overall style of the home. Custom design elements include a wooden countertop, a white vanity, and a sink (Tikamoon) with a microcement finish. Accessible from the common area, it features a spacious shower that spans the entire wall, complete with a ceiling-mounted showerhead (Roca) and a practical niche for storage.
The microcement walls are paired with Mediterranean-inspired floral wallpaper (Casamance), creating a balanced and inviting ambiance. A circular mirror (Saltoki) with integrated lighting adds a touch of contemporary style, completing a space that exudes fluidity, modernity, and elegance.
