The Folio Design team was commissioned to design and build the new offices for G Mining, located in a dynamic and thriving Brossard neighborhood. G Mining is a family-owned business that has been operating in the mining industry since 2006. This ambitious project aimed to create workspaces for two separate entities within a single location: G Mining Services Inc., occupying an area of 11,750 sq. ft., and G Mining Ventures Corp., covering an area of 2,820 sq. ft.

The project's primary objective was to create distinctive environments for each entity, while establishing a strong and cohesive connection between them. The mission required scrupulous respect for G Mining's family-oriented approach. Each space had to reflect the company's core values while fostering an atmosphere conducive to collaboration and employee growth. This project embodies not only G Mining's commitment to providing a modern and functional work environment, but also a place where each team member feels integrated into a shared vision and valued for their individuality. The fusion of these two aspects results in a work environment that is both distinct and unified, reflecting the company's DNA.

Unlike layouts often associated with more open spaces, where work environments are predominantly open-plan, the G Mining team emphasized the importance of providing closed offices for members of the various departments. With confidentiality and acoustics being essential and critical criteria, the Folio Design team had to make thoughtful choices to ensure an optimal work environment while respecting these imperatives. A bold concept, the play of chiaroscuro, is a nod to the unique mining environment.

Despite the large number of closed offices, it was essential to maximize natural light so that all spaces benefit from this essential element. The use of architectural partitions allowed for the design of bright offices while maintaining a certain transparency between the different areas, creating an open atmosphere while preserving the necessary privacy.
A functional layout was carefully considered to perfectly adapt to the needs of G Mining's two entities. Each had to have its own identity and a distinct reception area, while being cohesively connected. Smooth circulation and visual harmony between these two spaces were essential.
To effectively connect the two entities, the Folio Design team opted for a linear path around the central core. This pathway, guided by distinct carpets and subtle visual elements, helps structure the flow while adding an aesthetic dimension. This concept incorporates textures and organic materiality in keeping with the company's mining spirit. The addition of a golden cable ladder on the ceiling, inspired by the G Mining brand colors, adds a touch of elegance while reinforcing the company's visual identity. With a focus on conviviality, a multifunctional bistro was designed to encourage interaction and provide moments of relaxation. This space, bathed in natural light thanks to its large glass facades, becomes a meeting place for teams, also hosting informal events and training sessions. A chess corner was created to encourage relaxation and conviviality within the team. The large central table, inspired by picnics, becomes a welcoming gathering place, strengthening the community spirit.

Biophilia was integrated through the addition of natural plants, contributing to air quality and creating a soothing atmosphere. The custom-made furniture also allows for great flexibility, adapting to the varying needs of employees, thus promoting well-being and productivity. Smart lighting, equipped with presence and brightness sensors, optimizes energy efficiency while ensuring a pleasant atmosphere tailored to each area. The design optimized the space by creating distinct areas, both open and private, in line with privacy requirements. The use of acoustic coverings and specific lighting fixtures ensured pleasant acoustics conducive to concentration, while maintaining natural light.
