The Folio Design team was approached by the OptoPlus group and the two young owners of the OptoPlus Val-Bélair clinic to design the layout of their new clinic. Located on the outskirts of Quebec City, in a strategic location in the heart of Val-Bélair, the clinic enjoys exceptional visibility thanks to its two fully glazed facades, which are directly on the street.
The mandate was to design distinct, uncluttered, and functional areas, promoting accessibility and a smooth flow of users' journeys. From the earliest stages of design, the objective was to create a welcoming, minimalist space inspired by Japanese aesthetics, in harmony with the client's vision.
The palette of understated and authentic materials played a central role in the project's identity. The omnipresent white creates a luminous and soothing canvas, while the integration of simple yet expressive materials such as transparent glass, lightweight concrete panels, wainscoting, limewash paint, and touches of metal mesh bring texture, lightness, and subtlety to the overall effect.
Particular attention was paid to product presentation. Custom-made displays were designed to highlight each frame individually, similar to jewelry displays. This choice accentuates the perceived value of the frames while creating a refined and immersive customer experience.
Metal structures with thin openings elegantly demarcate the space between the waiting room and the boutique, while preserving a sense of openness. The open ceiling painted black, combined with linear lighting, provides a clear line, naturally guiding the customer's journey. A touch of emerald green, evoking nature, nobility, and vitality, is subtly introduced by decorative lighting, discreetly identifying examination areas. The entire layout was designed to guarantee both privacy and comfort, particularly between the clinical spaces and the boutique area, while ensuring smooth circulation.
This project illustrates our desire to blend aesthetics, functionality, and user experience, conveying a strong identity through a refined, cohesive spatial signature that respects the client's needs.
