Good + Sears Orthodontics is a 1,500 sf orthodontist's office located at 260 Stockton, facing Union Square in San Francisco. Given a rather expansive and complex program for a relatively small space nottoscale came up with a spatial concept that allows the light to filter through the long and narrow space while framing views of Union Square all the way through the suite.
Using the metaphor of a core or bracket, the center of the space is defined by the lab and the patient waiting area, both areas of utmost importance that are at the beginning of an orthodontic treatment. The core is clearly defined by its unique finish and the lowered soffit that completes the volumetric reading of the core.
