The client, a renowned photographer, bought a house and decided to move right away. The architect Guillerme Torres, his friend, was invited to exchange some ideas with the owner. One of the first ideas was to work with a dark paint, which varies in some detail graphite black, to bring a very male atmosphere at home. The original style of the house, with many fixtures in plaster, was very feminine. The use of dark colors brought an atmosphere of "invasion", almost an ironic response to the elaborated forms. This decision was also based on the fact that the artist always uses really strong colors on his work, which would be perfect to contrast with the imposing black walls.
On this neutral and dark atmosphere, a contemporary design was inserted, like Slice sofa and the Jet table, two design icons signed by the architect, living with vintages pieces of Brazilian masters as Sergio Rodrigues and Jorge Zalzupin. In the living room, this bossa can be admired in the degrade composition of the sofa modules, in contrast with the Dear Ingo lamp, from Moooi. The Iranian colorful carpets print the atmosphere rock'n'roll.
The dining room was the space where the rebellion of the owner more manifested. For deepening the connection between the outer area and the environment, ordered to open a large vain in the masonry, abandoning the classic door-wooden balcony. The result was so pleased that he left like this, completely open, like a balcony. A table, a special edition in cement, contrasts with the luminaire made of copper tubes, also signed by the resident. A happy marriage of good ideas, effort and creativity.
