Harbour House by Sophie Burke Design

Articolo Studios as Decorative Lighting

The interiors for this home were inspired by the rugged views of ocean and forest from the build site, and a warm-modern Pacific Northwest design aesthetic. Planned for a busy family, the layout of the home encourages social connection, while also providing independent space for adults and teens. The large main bedroom and an intimate media room flank the great room on the main floor, while teenaged children occupy the lower level where a large recreation room offers connection to the deck and pool via glass sliders.

The far-ranging vistas and the expansive open-concept spaces are warmed and personalized using a mix of textural materials such as local hemlock on ceilings, ebonized wood battens, rustic white oak floors, rough sawn cladding, patinated steel, and natural stone slabs. Design elements are deliberately robust, tactile, and unpretentious. Unique statement light fixtures are a key feature throughout the home and the furnishings chosen to be both beautiful and family friendly. via Loop Design Awards

Clifftop Harbour House

Sophie Burke Design as Interior Designers

The design for this home was inspired by the rugged views of ocean and forest from the hilltop on which this home is situated, and a warm-modern Pacific Northwest design aesthetic. Planned for a busy family, the layout of the home encourages social connection, while also providing independent spaces for adults and teens, and maximizing indoor/outdoor living.

The home interacts with its larger natural surroundings through carefully crafted decks, green roofs and spaces which work with the natural topography and makes best use of the views and sightlines.

The large main bedroom and an intimate media room flank the great room on the main floor, while teenaged children occupy the lower level where a large recreation room offers connection to the deck and pool via glass sliders. The expansive open-concept spaces are warmed and personalized using a mix of textural materials such as local hemlock on ceilings, ebonized wood battens, rustic white oak floors, rough sawn cladding, patinated steel, and natural stone slabs. During the day, the house harnesses natural daylight. At night, site lighting is minimized to avoid light pollution and quietly settle the home into the neighborhood.

Design elements are deliberately robust, tactile, and unpretentious. Raw and authentic materials were used to anchor the home into the surroundings. Black mustang slate in the pool reflects the sky and surroundings while the ocean appears an extension of the pool. Stain was carefully considered to avoid sheen and preserve the muted quality inherent to the local hemlock species. Unique statement light fixtures are a key feature throughout the home and the furnishings were chosen to be both beautiful and family friendly.
