The land is located near the city of Tavira, limited by the Serra Algarvia to the north and the Ria Formosa to the south, inserted at the intersection of three municipal roads in a rural area consisting mainly of agricultural fields.

In this inhospitable lot, triangular in shape and surrounded by roads, there were two buildings that developed along the east side - an old tavern with a grocery store, post office and a small warehouse perpendicular to the first. This 600 m2 lot is limited by a wall that runs along its entire perimeter.

The existing constructions were recovered according to traditional construction methods, thus preserving their original character and ambiences. The roofs and ceilings of these spaces maintain the wooden structure with ceramic tile and the interior facing in cains painted white, the walls are whitewashed and the wooden frames maintain the original design. The typological changes carried out were only those necessary for a better adaptation to the new program, social and service areas of the hotel; the reception, the kitchen, four rooms and two bedrooms.

In the leftover area, five new volumes were built, three bedrooms, each with its own private patio and a specific organization depending on the location, orientation, light and existing trees. A technical area and a laundry. In these new constructions, the heights of both the volumes and the walls that compose them are worked in order to serve their function of privacy, but also of reflection of light and shadow. The interior ceilings are in exposed concrete with the stereotomy of the wooden formwork used to build the flat roof slab and the openings now open generously in order to provide an extension of the interior for the private patios.

The new volumes are also strategically implanted in the lot in order to define four new outdoor spaces, of a more public character, thus defining different environments and degrees of privacy (Parking / Distribution / Tank and Solarium / Meals). The peripheral wall remains as well as the interior ecosystem where all the existing trees, fig trees, carob trees and other native species are kept. This wall becomes a structural and fundamental element for the operation of the project, its height was established in order to create privacy for those who live in it, but also curiosity and expectations for those who pass.
