Studio aisslinger develops a nature-loving design concept for the wellness hotel seegarten in sauerland
studio aisslinger has developed a new design concept for the Hotel Seegarten, which is located directly on a lake and surrounded by nature in the Sauerland region. The concept includes a complete renovation of the hotel rooms and the redesign of the public areas, including the renowned Seegarten restaurant. With this design, studio aisslinger once again demonstrates its status as a trendsetter in the area of hospitality, retail and new work.
Regional inspiration
When developing this project, the studio aisslinger team was inspired by the hotel‘s unique location - a kind of „oasis in the Sauerland“ - and the personality of Olaf Baumeister, the hotel‘s chef and owner. His close connection to regional suppliers and the care he takes in the production process have resulted in only local materials and manufacturers being used in the redesign. In the architectural and technical realisation of the concept, existing and new collaborations were started with companies that are exclusively from the surrounding area.
Sustainable materials
In all areas of the hotel, particular attention was given to the balance between open and communicative design and plenty of opportunities for retreat. The design and choice of materials reflect the natural atmosphere of the surroundings. Two material worlds were conceptualised as the main feature, which are based on the lake with gravel and the surrounding forest: Terrazzo and wood. These two materials are skilfully combined and complemented by other tactile elements such as curtains, carpets, plants and rattan. The terrazzo used in all areas was processed with stones from a nearby quarry with a local terrazzo manufacturer. Local sourcing is also designed as a sustainability concept here, as transporting building materials across Europe naturally goes against the principle of sustainability and the C02 footprint.
Balanced interior concept
Special design elements improve the overall look. In the restaurant, the new hydroponic shelf with its technical UV light deliberately creates a contrast to the existing design. In the wellness area, dividing elements covered with rattan hang from the ceiling and can be flexibly adjusted in height - depending on requirements, they serve as privacy screens or ceiling installations. These elements are also reflected in the rooms. Instead of conventional towel rails, small swimming pool ladders are attached to the bathtub. Each room has an individual plant shelf with fresh herbs and suitable equipment for making your own tea. The overall atmosphere is friendly and close to nature, as all materials are processed in their purest form and can be felt. With the interior concept for the Seeberger wellness hotel, studio aisslinger presents a well thought-out and harmonious design that uses only regional materials and turns the hotel into an oasis of well-being for its guests.
