House ACK

Studio AG Arquitetura as Architects

The renovation project for this 504m² residence, located in São Paulo - Brazil, consisted of a general overhaul of spaces in order to integrate and connect living spaces. It was developed for a couple with two teenage children, who have an intense social life, and aimed to make the rooms more integrated and the house open to the garden, in order to frame the landscape and bring more life and natural light to the interior of the house.

The original plant, cut and segmented, compromised the amplitude desired by the residents. The main action of architecture was to clean up the excesses and make openings at strategic points, to make the volume more interesting. The absence of a striking architectural style gave the professionals freedom to create a new face for the property, with a contemporary air.

It was a total renovation in relation to the finishes. The architects could not move much in the structure of the house, but on the ground floor, the living area and balcony was able to integrate as much as possible. In the main room, the demarcation of rooms with dividers was dispensed with, choosing to use the sofa as a room divider, one side for the fireplace room and the other for the living room. The metallic seat covered with leather serves to give unity to these environments.

The project prioritized timeless pieces of Brazilian design mixed with more stripped items. Neutral tones predominate in the furniture and the different textures, colors and materials that bring a cozy and poetic composition. The fireplace covering in Viroc, a composite panel consisting of a mixture of wood and cement was used in view of its advantageous thermal insulation capacity, in addition to being a low maintenance and costly material.

The search for a balance between contemporary pieces and timeless pieces of Brazilian design made all the difference. The Tam Tam pendant from Marset, from the dining table, is noteworthy, the item brought a sophistication with a playful air, since the piece is inspired by drum drums.

In the upper part, the circulations were organized and the window spans increased, in addition to adaptations, with the creation of new bathrooms and improvements to the rooms. The couple's, for example, was developed a headboard and drawers of the bedside tables in leather weave, bringing refinement and warmth to the environment. Practicality was the starting point in the choice of materials.

The volume of the couple's bathroom and the panels for closing the rooms were coated in Trespa, a high pressure compact laminate, which does not suffer over time, so it greatly minimizes maintenance care compared to wood.

In the external area, with the replacement of a pillar on the balcony by a metallic structural reinforcement, it was possible to open the house to the garden and leave the leisure area integrated to the living room, barbecue, pizza oven and swimming pool. The use of natural fiber lining heats the environment and filters out the luminosity.

A cistern was also made to reuse water for garden irrigation and the pool treatment system used was copper ionization, which is considered the most effective technology for water treatment of residential pools today, free from chemicals and is the technology that consumes less energy.
