In architecture, it's not just about designing houses that are beautiful in themselves: a new building must always position itself optimally in relation to the respective environment. This house in Bochum- Stiepel was to be built on a hillside from which there were spectacular views of the terrain - a real “asset” that became the starting point for the planning. The house was deliberately designed so that the happy residents and their amazed guests can enjoy the view in the best possible way.
The grandiose view is spectacularly staged by an almost frameless huge window front - a unique spatial experience that delights every day. The corner glazed front can be controlled by remote control: it connects the living room with the adjacent terrace and the floor-level pool and thus extends it even further. The various living spaces are arranged in such a way that their use follows the natural course of the sun - starting with breakfast in the rising sun.
Daily family life takes place in a 3.5 meter high, lightflooded room cube with a tent roof, which houses the open areas of eating, cooking and living and optimally meets the needs of the residents. A free-hanging black steel fireplace forms the center - a reminiscence of the proverbial fireplace, around which every community has gathered since the invention of fire.
