House in Anières
Thomas Jantscher

House in Anières

The building is situated on a strongly sloping terrain. The groundplan is based on a series of walls that run vertically to the incline. The ceilings between the brick walls are built on exposed untreated wooden beams. The walls are connected to the façade bands made of insulating concrete using an anchoring. All building materials and fastenings are finished to remain visible.

Following the classical floor plan, the reception and living spaces are organised on the entrance level and the private rooms on the upper floor are connected by a generous spiral staircase. A second stairway leads from the master bedroom to the living spaces on the ground floor and service rooms on the basement. It also creates a connection between the dining room and the wine cellar and rooftop terrace.

The exterior grounds cover several levels and include small gardens with a wide range of geographic alignments. The house provides a broad view of lake Geneva down the slope towards the north-west.
