The Hayama area faces Sagami Bay, feeling a gentle sea breeze. Located in the western part of the Miura Peninsula in Kanagawa Prefecture, it is also a popular spot for marine sports such as sun bathing and windsurfing.
The location is a quiet residential area in Hayama with a relaxed atmosphere. Enjoying a great view of the sea, we designed the three-story wooden house in less than 2 minutes from the beach.
In this house, the entrance and lounge space occupies the 1st floor. On the 2nd floor, the bedroom, and bathroom with the sink and the toilet can be found. The living room and the kitchen are located on the 3rd floor, which is the top floor.
In designing, the first thing that was designed was the interior of the third floor. The living room, originally planned on the 2nd floor, was intentionally put on the 3rd floor to make the most of the sea view.
The family uses the living room and kitchen whenever they want throughout the day. These rooms are where they spend a lot of time together. The ceiling of the living room is set high, and the window panes are both wide and high. As a result, plenty of natural light pours in from above during the day. We believe that it is important not only to see or feel the Sun light, but to be bathed in it.
More and more people are working from home these days, which means more time at home. As natural light is an important factor in our mental and physical health, we wanted to create a living environment where people, bathed in the sunlight, could feel the flow of the day as the sun moves in the sky. From the open kitchen also you can enjoy the outside scenery while cooking.
As with the overall structure, we carefully selected materials suitable for each room. On the 1st floor, the kitchen lounge is directly connected to the entrance with a spacious counter. The wooden materials of the same tone visually connect the entire space, creating a calm atmosphere.
We have created a comfortable space where you can relax in various places throughout the house, where you can gather from time to time and enjoy each moment with a view of the sea.
