It is a reconstruction of houses were washed away designed by fuminori maemi, the ‘3.11 Great East Japan Earthquake (2011)’, architect fuminori maemi has designed ‘House in Osato’ in miyagi prefecture. The owners lost their house by the large tsunami that swept up most of the buildings in its path. After living in temporary housing and unable to rely on the relocation program, they decided to build their own place. Surrounded by the area's beautiful countryside, the 483.19 square meter site is in the shape of a triangle. The low cost structure is based on a polyhedron tunnel with a horseshoe formation, which creates a sense of depth within the spaces - while configuring to the awkwardly shaped lot. ‘House in Osato' with its gently curving roof and extensive use of interior wooden finishes, is a restful post-disaster residence.
