Project Description

Single-family house made with wooden bearing structure (Xlam method).

The small lot available, located on the first outskirts of the city of Udine, has left room for the construction of two single-storey solids combined enough to obtain the entrance space to the house.

The block north of 60sqm contains the non-residential functions as well as giving access to the basement, the one to the south, noble, distributes a housing of 130 square meters that devotes half its width to a single living space and the other half to the sleeping area consisting of 3 bedrooms and two services.

Above the head a floor of continuous roof consisting of wooden blades breaks through the perimeter walls and continues outwards creating a covered path around the house that flows into a sunny area of relaxation at the living room. The interior living spaces have taken effect according to the positioning of the house and the suning, to the south-east the sleeping area and to the south-west the living area, the outdoor patio and the larger part of the simple garden, an element enriched by an existing adult hedge that generates precious shade spaces.

The relationship of the building with the two streets that border the lot is denied, first by the hedge and then to the east by the full concrete fence that draws the driveway and pedestrian entrance, up to a height of 2 meters beyond which the continuous horizontal element of edging cover is appreciated compared to the built-up seat.

The light is reflected externally in finishes with grayscale color tones and not very porous accentuated by the white enamels that cover all the exposed wooden parts. Internally the warmth of natural wood is left to the continuous floor in oak only while all the dividing septa, finishes and furniture continue the colors of the exterior.

The house follows the Casa Clima protocol positioning itself in Class A thanks to the attention to construction details, the perfect air tightness (verified through blower door test) to a controlled mechanical ventilation system, to a solar thermal and photovoltaic system that feeds a boiler in air-water heat pump.
