Perched high above the Hudson River with sweeping views of Manhattan, this Hudson Yards penthouse serves as the primary residence of a private NYC-based family with deep roots in the city. After partnering with Studio Ness on their Hamptons home, the clients returned to reimagine their 4,000-square-foot, three-level duplex—a space featuring soaring ceilings, expansive windows, and more than 1,800 square feet of private outdoor terraces.
The family sought a fresh start: a departure from the grayscale tones of their previous Upper East Side apartment in favor of a home that could effortlessly blend bold art, family life, and room to entertain. Studio Ness delivered a design that balances quiet luxury with playful sophistication, anchored by a subtle celestial motif inspired by the clients’ love of discovery and design. A custom Jan-Kath rug, referencing imagery from the Hubble telescope, set the tone for the home's color palette and conceptual direction.
Throughout the space, rich textures, bespoke furnishings, and curated vintage elements create a sense of rhythm and warmth—from a sculptural walnut bar cabinet to an ethereal, ice-toned bedroom designed in collaboration with the family’s eldest daughter. The result is a layered, livable home that feels both expansive and grounded—a modern sanctuary in the sky, fi lled with intention, imagination, and unmistakable New York character.
