Located in Ecoville, one of Curitiba's most tree-lined neighborhoods, Hytte Apartment was designed by Bohrer Arquitetos and comprises 120 sqm across three bedrooms, an open-plan living and dining area with a home office space, a balcony, and an entrance hall. The project reinterprets Scandinavian ideals of intimacy and refuge — simplicity, warmth, and a connection to the natural world — through an urban, minimalist, and contemporary design language.
The design is grounded in a neutral palette of cool tones: greys, whites, and light wood define each space with consistency and elegance. Black metalwork details punctuate the composition with precision, while wood-paneled walls and ceilings — particularly in the bedrooms — weave a continuity between spaces that adds warmth without losing the modern through-line. Despite its decidedly contemporary aesthetic, the project avoids the coldness often associated with minimalism: touches of greenery, soft fabrics in rugs and upholstery, and a carefully curated furniture selection lend the space a quiet but perceptible sense of hospitality.
In the social areas, the generous open-plan living room is articulated by a precise curation of designer pieces. The L93 Side Table, designed by Studio Lucas Carames for Boobam, brings geometry and lightness to the living area, while the Segmented Pouf by Innato adds a soft, sculptural volume that tempers the architecture's straight lines.
In the kitchen, the Jabuti Chairs in Tauari wood, designed by Jabuti Ateliê for Boobam, reinforce the warmth of natural wood without sacrificing the visual clarity that guides the entire project. The Bertoia Bench by Boobam completes the composition with elegance and formal economy. Grey-toned joinery and a restrained countertop preserve the chromatic unity, ensuring that the functionally dense space reads as a natural extension of the living area.
In the entrance hall, the Bouman Chairs, designed by Estúdio Mezas for Boobam, set a welcoming tone from the very first moment, anticipating the project's language. The balcony extends the interior composition outward with the same rigor. The B.K.F Butterfly Chairs, by Estúdio Massimo for Boobam, bring a touch of color and a nod to classic Argentine design, adding tactile richness through leather and more pronounced angles. The Caique Stools in ebonized wood, by Estúdio Felipe de Carvalho for Boobam, complete the ensemble with lightness and formal precision. An ethanol fireplace in raw concrete and stainless steel anchors the space and reinforces the sense of shelter that runs throughout the project.
In the master suite, slatted light-wood panels line the walls and ceiling, creating a volume that wraps the bed in the feeling of a refuge within a refuge. The bed, in bespoke millwork, was designed close to the floor, reinforcing the room's horizontality and lending a dimension of authenticity to the minimalist language.
The first bedroom develops its own identity within the project's continuity. Earthy tones on the walls dialogue with delicate graphic motifs and white slatted panels, revisiting the living area's sober aesthetic in a more intimate register. The Larry Bench, designed by Estúdio Legna for Boobam, introduces tactile texture and comfort to the space, complementing the desk alongside a black-painted steel clothing rack. Light filtered through sheer curtains and wood shelving complete a composition that balances practicality and character.
In the children's bedroom, the project's clean lines take on a new purpose: the millwork and furniture are organized into forms that configure small shelters and shelving units with a chalet-like silhouette, sparking the children's imagination within a still-minimalist language. A panel featuring floral motifs, foliage, and tropical nature precisely expands the color palette of the whole, introducing color and movement without disrupting the project's coherence.
By articulating contemporary aesthetics, natural materiality, and a refined sense of livability, Hytte Apartment stands as a synthesis of Bohrer Arquitetos' design repertoire: a project that knows how to be precise without being cold, and welcoming without being excessive.
