ICON is a 300 ft student housing tower located at 22nd and San Antonio Street in the West Campus neighborhood of the University of Texas at Austin. Located on a dense site, the infill tower features four levels of below-grade parking, 28 levels of residential apartments, and two amenity levels at the building’s crown. Completed in the fall of 2025, ICON is one of the tallest towers in the West Campus neighborhood, offering studios to five-bedroom floor plans.

Sitting on a tight quarter-acre lot, the concrete tower achieves a dense program without compromising design integrity or construction excellence. At ground level, a floor-to-ceiling curtain wall wraps around the primary entry, maximizing the connection between interior and exterior at this prominent corner lot. Textured channel glass walls provide light and privacy at study rooms and leasing offices, while black terracotta tiles clad back-of-house operation areas along the street. Above, the podium is clad in composite wood panels and metal panels with a muted color scheme that complements the surrounding streetscape. The below-grade parking preserves a clean pedestrian street presence—no above-grade podium, no wasted frontage, no compromise on the experience at the sidewalk.

Throughout the tower, the exposed concrete structure defines the rigid grid of the façade. Within the grid, windows, composite wood panels and angled EIFS panels of varying widths create patterns of visual movement and shadow across the exterior. The building’s crown is wrapped in double-story curtain wall, providing 360-degree views of the UT campus, downtown Austin and the surrounding Hill Country.
