New construction IKC Groenhouten

A place to meet

The IKC Groenhouten in Leusden provides space for primary schools De Hobbit and Het Kompas, a daycare center, a nursery, and an after-school care facility. The building features an "art route" that leads from the main entrance to the central space. Here, the various users come together around a spacious wooden tiered staircase as a connecting element.

With angled façades and rounded corners, the building blends into the environment and becomes a recognizable all-around IKC building at the heart of the neighborhood.

The heart of the neighborhood

The primary schools have an open layout and do not have traditional classrooms. The space can be flexibly arranged with sliding walls that connect to independent functional cores and quiet spaces. Above the corner entrance is the teachers' room, which has a good view of the schoolyard. The distinctive building shape is derived from the context. With a slanted façade and rounded corners, the building blends into the environment and becomes a recognizable all-around IKC building at the heart of the neighborhood.
