This apartment is situated in a palazzo in the historic city centre of Brescia, Italy, that once formed part of an ecclesiastic complex dating to the 1600s. The portion renovated by Claudia Pelizzari was used in the 1960s as the site of the Diocesan Museum of Brescia. One of the most interesting aspects of the project is in the kitchen and dining area. The high ceilings—over 4 meters—permitted the insertion of a functional and visually striking mezzanine, accessed by means of an alternating-tread stair. The owners’ daughter’s bedroom is also located on this level. Other notable features are the pass-through fireplace, in recycled aluminum, between the living room and the dining room, and the flooring in the living room, consisting of larch planks from the Trentino region, treated with a special lightening procedure.
