Kaelen Fall Winter 2011

Kaelen Fall Winter 2011

Collaborating on Kaelen's third presentation, the designed environment was anchored by Kaelen's inspirations of Sam Haskin's Cowboy Kate photography, as well subtle references to Victorian and American Western style. The immersive installation, enveloping the entirety of the venue, would provide multiple vignettes for the collection, while creating a poetic visual metaphor that delicately referenced Kaelen's sources.

I encased the space with 5000' running feet of salvaged wood planks leaning against the venue walls, layering rustic wood tones and textures for visual context. Suspending several dozen antique hurricane lanterns and bare edison lightbulbs overhead lent a magical illumination to the space. The assorted vignettes for the models were anchored with victorian clawfoot piano stools, an antique damask chaise and ornamental dressing screen, as well as a functional mechanical bull. The designed atmosphere suited the collections perfectly, and provided the guests with an extensive environment to pass through on viewing.
