CNN Grilss 2008. Democratic & Republican National Conventions

CNN Grilss 2008. Democratic & Republican National Conventions

The aim was to create experiential spaces that would serve live newscasting, on air and online, all the while reaffirming the participatory backbone of our democratic election process in America. Building off the creative deliverables from Collins, we were to establish a visual narrative of interactive technology and graphic signage that branded the spaces with the CNN identity, while engaging guests from the Conventions to enter and participate.

Working collaboratively with Collins | Design Research, we were hired to design the interiors for CNN's live television broadcast/ online webcast studios, during coverage of the 2008 DNC (Denver, Colorado) and 2008 RNC (St. Paul, Minnesota). CNN rented "Brooklyn's," in Denver, and the "Eagle Street Grille," in St. Paul adjacent to the cities' Convention Centers, to establish local news broadcasting headquarters. Inspired by the inherent visual languages of each restaurant space, we created a sequence of interactive, participatory experiences that enhanced the guests' attendance to the spirit evocative of a live television sound stage, all the while retaining the innate characteristics of a local town bar, where everyday people come for a cold beer, to relax, converse and share discourse on American Politics.
