From Ocean Vibe to Bang Saen Hype: Weaving Coastal Rhythms into Urban Campus Life

Nestled in the university district of Chonburi, the landscape architecture of Kave COCO Bang Saen harmoniously merges the vibrancy of student life with the tranquil essence of the nearby Bang Saen coast. Drawing inspiration from the oceanic rhythms, island contours, and indigenous seaside vegetation, the design reimagines a modern-day oasis that transforms everyday routines into moments of leisure and connection.

The site planning is shaped by fluid circulation and dynamic spatial composition. Pathways meander in soft, wave-like curves, echoing the motion of tides. Angled tiles, gradient paving, and layered topographies mirror the textures and transitions found along the shoreline that inviting users into a playful rhythm of movement, pause, and engagement. These architectural gestures establish a visual and physical narrative that brings the coast into the heart of the city.

The planting palette is curated to evoke a coastal sensibility but still strategically composed to offer shade, visual softness, and seasonal interest. This living system fosters biodiversity while maintaining a low-maintenance, resilient green space suited to the region's climate.

Rooted in the theory of the Third Space, the landscape design functions as a social and mental bridge, linking the academic sphere with students’ personal lives. It offers a series of adaptable outdoor rooms where users can gather, study, or retreat, supporting both solitude and sociability. In doing so, the design not only responds to the energy of its context but amplifies it but turning the familiar "Ocean vibe" into a “Bang Saen Hype”
