To ensure a short term care of 60, later over 80 children, the operator decided to set up a container system on the property of the primary school grounds Hamburg Volksdorf. Once the planning application was rejected for urban design reasons it was our job to make sure that the container construction would be, as far as possible, concealed.
Therefore, we decided the system on an existing pit to be cantilevered as to develop wide attraction by the external staircase and a tensioned canopy. Distinctive coloration, unusual window openings in the turquoise wall to the east as well as the orange cantilevered roof make the temporary building get its own character.
