Located in Bucharest, the Kinetic Flagship clinic is a large-scale medical recovery center spread across the ground floor and a partial first floor of an existing building, covering approximately 2,115 square meters. The project reimagines the traditional medical facility as a dynamic spatial experience centered around movement, therapy, and motivation to heal. The existing space was left completely open, exposing only the concrete structure, while the entire spatial planning and interior identity were developed from scratch.
The design concept draws directly from the essence of physiotherapy — movement. The whole aesthetic was designed to convey dynamism, optimism, and offer a subtle “dopamine kick”. With this in mind, every detail, corner, and graphic element was custom designed, resulting in a sequence of graphic corridors with scenographic lighting, a bold reception area, and statement pool and training spaces. Lines, patterns, and light become spatial tools that emphasize direction, rhythm, and continuity.
We aimed for a mix of contemporary urban elements — such as exposed concrete surfaces and technical ceilings — combined with warmer, nature-related materials, creating a deliberate friction meant to generate curiosity and sensory stimulation.
A restrained chromatic palette — mint green, muted yellow, and strawberry red — is layered over grey surfaces with a concrete texture. These colors subtly differentiate program areas while maintaining visual coherence across the entire clinic.
The ground floor accommodates the main reception area, where a sculptural red desk becomes a central element within the space. Vertical LED lines integrated into the concrete-textured walls enhance spatial depth, while the custom-made plexiglass installation panel with diagonal colored stripes reinforces the project’s visual dynamism, creating a kinetic optical effect as visitors move around it.
Locker rooms for women, men, and families are organized nearby, featuring custom-designed lockers finished with a distinctive black-and-white dotted pattern. The pediatric physiotherapy area forms another key zone on this level. Designed as a playful yet controlled environment, the space incorporates zig-zag graphics, pastel tones, wood inserts, mirrored surfaces, and large circular lighting elements that also function as acoustic panels.
One of the most distinctive spaces of the clinic is the swimming pool area, positioned within a double-height volume accessed from the main stair landing. A large skylight above is filtered through a translucent textile membrane, creating a soft and diffused atmosphere. Here as well, organic aquatic-inspired graphics are juxtaposed with geometric and rhythmic wall paneling, creating the same positive spatial tension present throughout the project.
The upper floor continues the graphic language established below and contains the main training area, visually connected to the pool through an ample glass wall, and the physiotherapy rooms. Corridors feature herringbone-patterned LVT flooring with dynamic inserts, black-and-white graphic wallpapers, stainless steel accents, translucent glass partitions, and vertical LED lines that create a scenographic spatial sequence.
The whole space reinforces the central idea of the project: architecture as a framework that supports motivation, movement, and recovery.
